Southside Football Club is one of
the largest Football Clubs in the County and operates as a non-profitable organisation dedicated
to promoting fair play and providing a safe environment for its 300+ players.
The club continues to grow and grow and currently has 17+ teams which includes youth teams from under-6s right through to
Under-16s, girls’ teams and the men's XI.
We are proud of the tremendous
support we get from parents and assistants, who give up their time to promote
football for all, ensuring that the players get the maximum possible enjoyment
out of their game. We also give huge big thank you to our wide range of
sponsors who contribute greatly to help
finance various kit purchases and equipment.
The club was formed in 1994 and name was taken due to the
fact it was initially for youngsters from the south side of Cheltenham. In 2002
we achieved our biggest accolade by becoming the first club in Gloucestershire
to receive the FA Charter Standard Award.
This award ensures that every one of our officials and assistants comply
with FA regulations by completing safety checks in order to work with
youngsters. We strive to give officials the opportunity to develop their
coaching/managerial skills with a continual training and development plan.
We host an annual Southside Tournament each summer and
invite clubs from near and far to take part. We also celebrate the end of each
season with a prestigious Presentation Night. This year we held it in
Cheltenham’s Town Hall and 800 people including players, their families and
sponsors attended it.
Our ultimate goal is to have our own
home ground and clubhouse. We keep involved in local campaigns to provide more
sports grounds for youngsters with the hope that one day we will achieve
this.
