Review of Last Year's Tournament May '09
Southside Football Club welcomed 150 teams to its 9th Football Festival and Tournament at Bournside sports field on 9th &10th May 2009. The sun shone, although it was a little breezy which was a challenge for keeping gazebos securely anchored. From the feedback we got we believe that players enjoyed their football and that spectators and coaches appreciated and applauded good play and skill from the opposition, as well as from their own team. Thank you to everyone who patiently waited in traffic queues while we coped with the logisitics of getting cars on and off site.
A tournament of this size required the support of many people. We would like to thank our programme sponsor, Orchard Press, and other sponsors; Cotswold Granite, Just Carpentry and Locks, Russell Milton Football Coaching and Up Hatherley Parish Council for their financial support. Also, a big thank you to all Southside team coaches, players and parents who helped out over the weekend with the numerous ‘tournament jobs’. Finally, our huge appreciation and thanks to a group of largely young and energetic referees, without whom this tournament would not have run.
