Round-up of season 07/08
This
season has been a brilliant one for Southside. All players,
managers,
helpers, officials and sponsors took the opportunity to join together
and
celebrate at our prestigious Annual Presentation Evening held at the
Town Hall
on 25 May 2008. We
were honoured to have Leroy Rosenior and Jerry
Gill as guest presenters.
Our
8th Annual tournament
was held on 10/11
May at Bournside School. We changed our format this year and ran it
over two
days to give more teams the opportunity to play. Once again we were
extremely
lucky with the weather. Our thanks go to all the helpers, officials and
sponsors who made the tournament such a success and gave all the
players the
opportunity to do what they most enjoy doing which is playing football.
The
sportsmanship shown by all players was a credit to their clubs.
See DE
Photos website for photos from the tournament and
presentation night.
We
are delighted that two of our teams won Sportsmanship awards from the
Cheltenham Youth League; Southside Wildcats U12 (for the 3rd year
running) and Southside Athletics U14. Praise goes to Southside U12 who
brought
home the U12 League Cup following an exciting final that was decided on
penalties at Cheltenham Town’s Whaddon Road ground.
Congratulations also go to
Southside U14 girls who were U14 Division 2 winners of the Gloucester
County
Girls Football League. The Mens team have also had a successful season
gaining
promotion to Division 4 of the Cheltenham League as runners up of
Division 5.
Another
major achievement of the season was the creation of Southside
Girls’ community
football. This provides football coaching sessions for girls
on a Saturday
morning at Bournside School.
None
of this would have been possible without the tremendous
support we received from parents, managers
and officials, who have given up their time to promote football for
all,
ensuring that the players get the maximum possible enjoyment out of
their game.
We also give huge big thank you to our wide range of sponsors who have
contributed greatly to help
finance various kit purchases and equipment.
