Southside's men’s team were formed by Jon Owen for the 2005-06 season to establish a presence in the Cheltenham League that would eventually provide an outlet for Southside players when they were too old to play youth football.

Coaches Julian Adams, Dan Herbert, Brian Newman, Steve Oliveri, Tony Rastelli and Ian Swales all featured as the first season ended with Southside winning the John Ingram Memorial Trophy for receiving the highest sportsmanship marks from their peers in the entire Cheltenham League.

For 2006-07, there was concerted push for promotion which meant that new young players were signed on and only 7 of the 25 players signed-on were aged over 20. The team included six players from the previous season's U16 league champions - AJ Beamish, Chris Clavin, Rob Curry, Tommy McNeil, Lee Swales and Matt Williams. Under the management of Ian Swales they finished 7th in Division 5.

In season 07/08 Southside were runners up in Division 5 and got promoted to Division 4 for 08/09. This was their first season under the management of Steve Williams.
